Have you ever seen a straight banana?

This is a widely known euro myth based on a misunderstanding of rather strict standards of international trade in general over the size and quality of bananas. It was the national agricultural ministers who asked the European Commission to draft legislation in this area, although it has strongly denied having imposed a non-curved shaped to the banana.

"The EU is entering political virgin territory"

"This statement brings the EU into political virgin territory" is a quote attributed to Mr Josep Borrell, Presdient of the European Parliament on the 27th October 2004. The European Parliament proved its growing strength in the EU by bringing the Commission to a standstill with the threat of rejecting Jose Durao Barroso' s line-up following Rocco Buttiglione's controversial remards on homosexuality and the role of women in society.

In JEF we work to build a more democratic and united Europe where the citizens get invovled and participate in shaping our future in common.
