The YES Campaign kicks off!
The YES Campaign, led by the European Movement International with the support of JEF Europe, was officially launched yesterday in Brussels. The event marked an important step in the setting-up of the civil society coalition that will in the coming 18 months campaign in favour of the European Constitution.
"JEF-Europe will put in all its strength and will engage all its activists in order to play a major role in the YES Campaign," stated Joan-Marc Simon, the Secretary General of JEF-Europe when addressing the audience at the kick off event.
"We should all make this effort for a better Europe!"
Among those present, Jo Leinen (MEP, Chairman of the Constitutional Affairs Committee), Íñigo Méndez de Vigo (MEP, co-rapporteur for the EP report on the Constitution), Richard Corbett (MEP, co-rapporteur for the EP report on the Constitution), Hans-Gert Poettering (MEP, Chairman of the EPP-ED group in the EP) and Bronislaw Geremek (MEP) expressed their support for the Constitution and wished all the best to the YES Campaign.
"The YES Campaign will grow stronger and stronger, with the aim of establishing the widest coalition possible of civil society organisations in favour of the European Constitution," Henrik H. Kroener, the Secretary General of the European Movement International said in his concluding remarks.
Bruno Boissiere, the Secretary General of UEF and Silvia Baita, the President of AEGEE have also joined the YES coalition and expressed their full committment to this important and challenging campaign.
